Stampli Alternatives in 2026: 6 AP Tools Compared

Written by Ademola Afolabi, Founder, Nexus AP. Reviewed and updated October 20, 2026.

Stampli does not publish prices or offer a free trial. Six alternatives compared on what each vendor publishes: pricing model, seat pricing, PO matching and accounting integrations.

Stampli is built around invoice collaboration: comments, questions and approvals happen on the invoice itself, with an AI chatbot ("Billy") that answers invoice questions. Teams look for alternatives for three common reasons. Stampli publishes no prices, so you cannot budget before a sales process. It offers no free trial on its pricing page. And smaller teams on QuickBooks often want something they can set up themselves in a week.

This comparison sticks to what each vendor publishes on its own pricing page (checked 10 September 2026). Where a vendor does not publish something, we say so rather than guess.

Nexus AP: published pricing and three-way matching for QuickBooks teams

Nexus AP captures invoices from email and uploads, codes them, routes approvals and syncs approved bills to QuickBooks Online, Xero, FreshBooks or Zoho Books. Plans are $199 (Starter, 250 documents/month), $699 (Growth, 1,000 documents/month, adds PO matching) and $1,999 (Scale, 5,000 documents/month), all with unlimited users and a 14-day free trial.

Best for: small and mid-sized teams on QuickBooks or Xero that want three-way matching and multi-step approvals without per-user fees or a long rollout. Consider Stampli instead if: invoice-level collaboration between many stakeholders is the main problem you are solving.

Disclosure: Nexus AP is our product.

BILL: bill pay with per-user pricing

BILL publishes per-user plans: Essentials $49, Team $65 and Corporate $89 per user/month, with Enterprise quoted. Automatic two-way sync with QuickBooks and Xero starts at Team (Essentials syncs by CSV). Purchase orders with automatic 2- and 3-way matching are included on Corporate and Enterprise. Payment fees are published: ACH $0.59, check $1.99.

Best for: teams whose main need is paying bills, with a modest number of users. Watch: per-user pricing grows with every approver, though Corporate and Enterprise offer discounted approver-only seats.

Ramp: free plan, spend management first

Ramp's Free plan includes AI invoice capture, bill pay by check, ACH, card and wire, and QuickBooks Online and Xero integrations. Plus ($15 per user/month plus a platform fee that scales with team size) adds three-way match with imported purchase orders and item receipts, plus NetSuite and Sage Intacct. Enterprise is quoted.

Best for: companies already using, or open to, Ramp cards, that want AP inside the same spend platform. Watch: the Plus platform fee is not published as a figure.

Tipalti: global payables at scale

Tipalti's AP plans start at $99/month with unlimited users, and it states there are no per-user or per-approver fees. Per-invoice and per-payment transaction pricing is added on top, and anything beyond the starting price requires a quote. Procurement is a separately enabled module.

Best for: companies paying many international suppliers or payees, across entities and currencies. Watch: total cost depends on payment volume, entities and modules, so get the full quote.

AvidXchange: mid-market AP with quoted pricing

AvidXchange publishes no pricing; pricing is quoted per customer. It states its invoice-to-pay solution can be implemented "in as little as 45 days".

Best for: mid-market companies, especially in real estate and construction, that want a managed AP and payments provider. Watch: like Stampli, you will not see a price before a sales conversation.

Melio: low-cost payments, not invoice matching

Melio prices per account: Go is free (5 ACH payments a month, then $0.50 each), Core $25, Boost $55 and Unlimited $80 per month, with Platinum quoted. Card payments are 2.9%. Its pricing page does not list purchase orders or invoice matching.

Best for: very small businesses that mainly need cheap ACH and check payments. Watch: no PO matching or approval routing for larger AP teams.

How to choose

  1. Do you need a price before talking to sales? Nexus AP, BILL, Ramp and Melio publish prices; Stampli and AvidXchange do not; Tipalti publishes a starting price only.
  2. How many people approve bills? Per-user pricing (BILL, Ramp Plus) adds up when managers across several locations approve. Unlimited-user plans (Nexus AP, Tipalti) do not.
  3. Do you match invoices to purchase orders? If yes, check the tier: matching is on Growth for Nexus AP, Corporate for BILL and Plus for Ramp.
  4. Which accounting system? All of the tools above integrate with QuickBooks Online in some form; check whether sync is automatic on the plan you are pricing.
